Crypta Balbi. Un'archeologia narrativa nel cuore di Roma

Ispirata dal lavoro archeologico degli anni ’80, Elizabeth Rodini esamina la lunga storia dell’isolato Crypta Balbi, raccontando una narrativa stratigrafica che rivela aspetti nuovi e  poco conosciuti di questa zona famosa e anche infame.

Elizabeth Rodini è una storica dell'arte e museologa che si occupa dei significati mutevoli di siti e oggetti. Già docente presso la Johns Hopkins University e direttore artistico/direttore ad interim dell'American Academy in Rome, Rodini è autrice di numerosi articoli e di Gentile Bellini’s Portrait of Sultan Mehmed II: Lives and Afterlives of an Iconic Image (Bloomsbury, 2020).

Inspired by the archaeological work of the 1980s, Elizabeth Rodini examines the long history of the Crypta Balbi block, creating a stratigraphic narrative that reveals new and little known aspects of this famous and also infamous area.

Elizabeth Rodini is an art historian and museologist who studies the ongoing, evolving meanings of sites and objects. Formerly a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University and Arts Director/interim Director of the American Academy in Rome, Rodini is the author of numerous articles and of Gentile Bellini’s Portrait of Sultan Mehmed II: Lives and Afterlives of an Iconic Image (Bloomsbury, 2020).
